Clearly Colorado: The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society
Leukemia and Lymphoma Society

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Rocky Mountain Chapter (LLS), is one of 68 chapters in the United States and Canada. LLS is the world's largest voluntary health organization dedicated to funding blood cancer research and providing education and patient services.

Our mission
LLS's mission is to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families. Since its founding in 1949, the Society has invested more than $600 million in research specifically targeting leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma.

Patient services
A diagnosis of leukemia, lymphoma or myeloma brings many daily challenges and LLS is committed to providing support and guidance to patients and the health professionals who care for them. LLS offers the most comprehensive array of services to patients and families touched by blood cancers. There are support groups, financial assistance, education programs, discussion boards and many more support opportunities available. For more information about blood cancer, visit http://www.LLS.org or call LLS's Information Resource Center (IRC), a call center staffed by master's level social workers, nurses and health educators who provide information, support and resources to patients and their families and caregivers. IRC information specialists are available at (800) 955-4572, Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. ET. To speak to someone right here in Colorado, dial 1-800-286-8159 and ask for our Patient Services Manager, Dr. Lynn Callaway.

Get involved
There are many opportunities to get involved with LLS.

2010 Man & Woman of the Year

"Man & Woman of the Year" is a fundraising campaign where candidates raise as much money as possible in honor, or in memory, of a friend or family member who has battled a blood cancer or in honor of the campaign's Boy & Girl of the Year. These local children are currently undergoing treatment or are survivors of a blood cancer. The individual man and woman who raise the most funds during the eight-week campaign will be awarded the title of Man & Woman of the Year.

The 2010 Man & Woman of the Year kicks off February 18, 2010. If you, or anyone you know, are interested in being a candidate please contact Andrea Steffes-Tuttle at (303) 984-2110 or Andrea.Steffes@lls.org.
