These guys started off like any other group, they all played in different bands when they were in High School! John, Bryan and Martin formed Boys Like Girls and eventually brought in Paul who is actually John's cousin. They started making demos, and then doing what most bands do now days… They posted they're demos online (MySpace, and Purevolume.com), and the craziness began. Two songs in particular were catching the buzz "The Great Escape", and "Thunder". On MySpace the boy's songs caught the attention of Panic! At The Disco's producer Matt Squire, and Taking Back Sunday and My Chemical Romance's booking agent Matt Galle. Matt Squire and Matt Galle contacted the boys and it lead to a national Pure Volume tour.
After the tour the guys then released their debut self titled album on August 22, 2006. The album went certified Gold. Hits from the album include: "Hero/Heroine", "The Great Escape", and "Thunder". After the album release, the boys headlined their first tour. As soon as the tour was over they hit another tour. The boys opened up for Lostprophets and Eighteen Visions.
In 2007 the boys were touring again, this time with Cobra Starship for a 2 month tour. On February, 22 the boys performed on Jimmy Kimmel Live. They then jumped on the Vans Warped Tour. In July their music video hit #1 on MTV's TRL! In 2008 they continued jumping on a bunch of different tours, and started recording their second album
What is going on with the boys now? In 2009 Boys Like Girls released their second studio album Love Drunk on September, 8, which has so far peaked at #8 on the billboard charts. The first single is "Love Drunk", and the video features Ashley Tisdale. In August the boys released "She's Got A Boyfriend Now" on iTunes. The boys are currently on tour and you can catch them here in Denver on October 20th. Before the show the boys will be part of Hot 1071 Listener Lounge where they meet fans and play some songs acoustically. Be on the look out for their third single from Love Drunk "Two Is Better Than One" featuring Taylor Swift to hit the airwaves soon.
