Britney Spears first appeared on the TV show Star Search in 1992. After her Star Search debut she became a part of Disney Channel's The New Mickey Mouse Club television show from 1993 to 1994. Her fellow Mouseketeers included Christina Aguilera, Justin Timberlake, and J.C. Chasez. After the Mickey Mouse Club Britney became a solo artist signing with Jive records and releasing her first album Baby One More Time in 1999. Baby One More Time sold over 12 million copies in the U.S. and included the hit singles: "Baby One More Time", "(You Drive Me) Crazy", "Sometimes", and "From the Bottom of My Broken Heart."
Her second album "Oops!... I Did It Again" was released in 2000 was just as successful selling over a million copies its first week, which was a record for single week sales by a female artist! Overall the CD sold over 10 million copies in the U.S.. Hit songs from Britney's sophomore album "Oops!... I Did It Again" included: "Oops!... I Did It Again", "Lucky", "Stronger", and "Don't Let Me Be the Last to Know." During this time Britney was dating her former Mouseketeer friend Justin Timberlake.
Britney's third album self titled Britney was released in 2001. The album was not as successful as her first two albums, and only sold 5 million copies in the U.S.. It included hit songs: "I'm a Slave 4 U," "I'm Not a Girl, Not Yet a Woman," and "Overprotected." None of these songs hit the top ten or top 20 on the charts like her previous hits. Time for a movie, Britney hits the big screen and stars in the movie Crossroads in 2002. At this time Britney and Justin's relationship took a turn and ended.
In 2003 Britney released her 4th album "In the Zone," and soles hit 3 million copies in the U.S.. "In The Zone's" hits included "Toxic," "Everytime," and "Me Against the Music (featuring Britney's good friend Madonna)." This time her album hit number one on the charts, and her hit song "Toxic" received a Grammy for Best Dance Recording. In 2004 Britney married her childhood friend Jason Alexander in Los Vegas, and got divorced a merit 55 hours later. Also in 2004 Britney got married a second time to one of her backup dancer's Kevin Federline.
In 2005 Britney released her Greatest Hits album "My Prerogative", which sold 1.5 million copies in the U.S.. Britney didn't just release an album in 2005, but she had her first child with Kevin, Sean Preston and in 2006 Britney had her second child with Kevin, Jayden James. Shortly after having Jayden Britney filed for divorce from Kevin.
In 2007 Britney released her album "Blackout," which sold only 1 million copies in the U.S. proving to be her least successful album to date. Semi hits from the Blackout album were: "Gimme More", "Piece of Me", and "Break the Ice."
In 2008 Britney launched her current album "Circus." The single "Womanizer" is now a hit, and is Britney's first hit single in almost a decade. The second single form the "Circus" album is "Circus."
